Removing the Optical Drive

1. Turn the computer bottom side up with the front facing forward.
2. Remove the two pewter TM2.5 × 9 screws that secure the optical drive to the base enclosure

1. Turn the computer top side up with the front facing forward.
2. Open the computer.
3. Manually eject the optical drive by inserting a paper clip into the manual release hole.
4. Grasp the side rails of the drive tray and gently pull it to the right to remove the optical drive.

Removing a Diskette Drive

1. Prepare the computer for disassembly and remove the following components:
   • LED cover
   • Keyboard 
   • Optical drive 
   • Display 
   • Heat spreader 
2. Release the ZIF connector ¹ to which the diskette drive cable is connected and disconnect the cable ² from the system board
3. Remove the silver TM2.5 × 6 screw ³ that secures the diskette drive to the base enclosure.

1. Lift up the right side of the diskette drive ¹ until the drive rests an angle 
2. Slide the diskette drive to the right ² and remove it from the base enclosure.

1. Release the ZIF connector ¹ to which the diskette drive cable is connected and disconnect the cable from the diskette drive ²
